Traditionally, starting from the plot, I can't say anything about Scorn. We wake up in the middle of a mysterious object with no information about who we are or where we are. Since then, we've been raising many unanswered questions. There is no dialogue in the game, no collected notes or even a story hidden behind the events or the game's decor. Everything that happens here does not make much sense - for example, at the beginning we will be forced to obtain an egg with a creature locked inside, which we must move on a cart to free or kill it. Why? Who is the entity? What does this choice give us? Why only her hand opens the door? We know nothing, and then the surrealism will deepen and we will stop asking questions because we will understand that everything we do is pointless. The gameplay itself in Scorn also fluctuates between pointless action and irritating actions. We control a nameless man, probably a man because we don't have a mouth, a character who is slow, can't jump, and running can be compared to the fast walking of an ordinary man. We will also be able to shoot with several weapons and stab enemies with a jackhammer, which recharges for a few seconds. Our character can't jump, and the run-up takes a while, which means that in fights we are practically deprived of dodging and only two seconds after hitting the enemy are a break allowing us to hit the enemy. And if there are a few enemies, combine them. In addition, our hero has many long animations that we sometimes have to repeat when we somehow fall down. And we will fall many times, because the ammunition and first aid kits in the game are scarce. Interestingly, both filling our ammo containers and regenerating first-aid kits have their animation lasting several seconds, which I honestly had enough of after finding the third place to replenish ammo. Reload the same and healing. I have to admit that the shooting in this game is the worst shooting model I've seen in years. Our character is free, reloading takes forever and covers the entire screen. There's a micro-lag time with every shot you fire, regardless of the graphics settings, as if the game has to calculate how much damage the enemy takes. And there are three types of enemies here and one boss, which is more of a logical puzzle than any challenge. There is very little ammo in the game, despite the perfect accuracy (seriously, it's hard to miss something here) I always ran out of bullets for all enemies and had to switch to the hammer, which also works as it wants and has a long refresh. Most of the fights I just ran and saved ammo for fights where the enemies could not be avoided. They also don't have any artificial intelligence and behave differently depending on how far we are from them, and that's not always the case either. The fact that there are very few first-aid kits for healing also speaks for not fighting, and some fool who designed this game decided that from time to time we will receive damage from the parasite that sits on us.   0 0

Scorn is an upcoming first-person biopunk survival horror adventure video game developed by Ebb Programfor Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The game is inspired by the works of visual artists H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński.


The player controls a skinless humanoid, lost in a fictional nightmarish alien planet filled with odd monster and macabre tapestry, resembling a living techno-organic structure composed of steel, flesh, and bone. The player will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion, searching for reply that will explain more about the game's world.

The game, thus far, show two main weapons: a pistol and a three-barrel rifle that fire some forms of organic spikes. The player starts with the pistol, a 6-shot weapon dealing mild damage to the in-game enemies. It appears to be completely organic, beginning with the mouth-looking base for the weapon which shouldbe opened to allowthe pistol itself be removed and exchanged for the shotgun. The shotgun is a 3-shot weapon that deals considerable damage to opponentsclose-up, but the damage drops at long distances. The shotgun is composed of the same content as the pistol, appearing to be angry from organic matter.


Ebb Programis a Serbian game development studio founded in 2013. The developers have claimed to design the game around the idea of "being thrown into the world", and as such, very little context is given about the game's setting. The developers have explained that they wishthe unsettling environment to be a heroin itself.

The game was first announced on the 12th of November 2014, with a trailer showing pre-alpha footage, followed by an unsuccessful campaign on Kickstarter in December 2014, but despite this, the game remained in development with a designedtwo-part release. In January 2015, Scorn get personalfunding from an investor and began full production in February 2015. The game was designedto be released in two parts, the first is called Dasein ([ˈdaːzaɪn]), a German word that means "being there" in vernacular German (German: "there"; "being"), and "being-in-the-world" in Martin Heidegger's philosophy. Later, the production squadannounced to beginthe game as a whole, instead of parts, although the release date was yet unannounced.

In 2017 Ebb Programlaunched a second Kickstarter, reaching its goal of €150,000 in September of that year.

On May 7, 2020, it was announced that the game would be published on PC and have console exclusivity on Xbox Series X, running in 4K and 60fps, and will not be released on the previous generation of consoles because the developer squaddidn't wishto spend development time on what would be a sub-par version of the game and overall experience. Scorn will be released also on Steam, Windows Store, and GOG.

The game was scheduled to be released in autumn 2021, but then a delay was announced until 2022.
