I don't know about you, but I clean up after myself when I go to the bosom of nature, I don't destroy anything, I don't set fire to forests and I don't murder animals. We even sort garbage. In this way, Endling: Extinction is Forever is another important and good game that was aimed at bad people. Because presidents of large countries or owners of corporations should play it, not ordinary people who have done nothing. I played Endling: Extinction is Forever on Playstation 5. With this bitter introduction, I present to you my attitude towards this type of eco-games which is Endling: Extinction is Forever. So let's focus on the quality of the game itself, not on how important the message it is. In Endling: Extinction is Forever, we play the role of a mother fox who will try to survive with her tiny foxes. It will be a platform game in which we will move like in a 2D Skul game on a plane left and right. Unlike this game, however, the entire environment is 3D, which will allow us to regularly change paths if one appears. Various things will also happen in the background that will have a direct or indirect impact on our hero. In practice, our game will consist in finding food for our young every day and ensuring that they survive until the next day.
However, that's not all, because Endling: Extinction is Forever also has story layers. They are told in a subtle way, without uttering a single word. This is a clever move on the part of the developers, because our leaf will see people as scary and menacing caricatures that communicate with grunts and growls. These terrifying beasts will threaten our pet, so it is important that the fox returns to its burrow on time each night. We also have to watch out for various dangers, and the map itself is full of secrets that we will not be able to explore and find without proper planning. The game's clever design has kept us torn between caution, as it's best if we return to our burrow before dawn, but not too early as our young will be hungry as punishment, and curiosity, as many interesting places are hidden away from our burrow, and we never know what will be waiting on the way back.
An interesting element in Endling: Extinction is Forever is developing our young. Each of them will acquire a few skills during the game, and unfortunately, we can only find them by going to the right place and noticing that a paw icon has appeared above one of our pets, suggesting learning skills. While the element itself encourages exploration and risking, unfortunately, I often missed places where we could learn something. All because we always want to run fast to get to some place, and our cubs then stay a little behind. We are not able to go through the whole game to find all the skills. This element is nice but it needs to be refined, personally I had to use guides on the web to find all the skills and in two cases (out of about 10 -12) I had to go back.
The game world is intriguing because it will require us to move and react to changes that occur. Our den can be attacked by people or destroyed by passing machines that destroy the forest. The forest itself will also be cleared every day, which will make some hiding places disappear, and the passage will be difficult or completely new paths will appear. In addition, in the game we will find a lot of different events aimed at making it difficult for us to return home. There will also be positive ones, e.g. a man playing the guitar who will give us something to eat and we will be able to let ourselves be petted. However, this is a drop in the ocean of despair and in most cases we will have to be careful. Unfortunately, the events overlap, and in the event of death, we have to start the whole day over. For example, there may be a poacher with a shotgun watching the area and a woodcarver who will try to catch us. In addition, ordinary people who hurt our pet, and two wounds inflicted in a short period of time force us to load the game and the sad inscription Your Young Will Not Survive. And one time I came across a woodcarver who shouldn't be here, because I tricked him, and a man who jumped out of nowhere and blocked my way a few meters away. Such situations are individual and it is a pity that the creators did not add any limiters when overlapping events.
